Burn Your Stereotypes

Microaggressions & stereotypes as burnable candle sculptures

I designed and created custom molds for three candle sculptures. Each candle represents a stereotypical question people of color find themselves facing in their everyday lives.

Each candle sculpture symbolizes a question that minorities face regarding their identity and cultural belonging.

  • People: "Are you related?"
  • Suitcase: "Where are you really from?"
  • Tiger: "Your parents must be strict."
